Update
Work is chaos! I’ve done pretty much nothing but work for the last week. Haven’t even had time (or energy) to look at flashcards. Hurray.
I did have one observation though. The other week I questioned Langan’s explanation of the arrow of time via the CTMU’s emphasis of the filtrative side of constructive-filtrative duality. Basically, if the stacked filters are viewing the light cone down the time axis, and the light cone is symmetric, shouldn’t the filter stacking be symmetric as well? One possible answer is no, because of information. Information is a filter, a bit of information is the amount of information necessary to reduce uncertainty by a factor of two. Information is the filter that determines the arrow of time because knowledge flows in one direction. Something like that. Another possible answer that occurs to me now though is: Yes, obviously it’s symmetric, don’t forget about sum over futures along with your sum over histories. Silly goose.
The coming two weeks will probably have minimal updates as well since work will be nasty until the end of the month. Not a good sign for this project :/. I’m trying to find time, energy, and brainpower, but these are in short supply. Wish me luck.
